Communicating with parents is a key part to membership and involvement in any PTA. And one of the best methods to communicate is through a website. Parents, in general, prefer to get information via the web. One of the best high school PTA websites I've seen is here: http://www.shspta.org/
How about starting a PTA sponsored newspaper. Basic idea is electronic version. Every parent gets it delivered, but only PTA members can contribute articles. Stories would be both school related and outside school activities. Those that aren't covered in the mainstream local or school media. Every parent wants to see their child's names in the paper recognizing them. Let me know if you like the idea and want me to go into further detail.
Have you looked at the Just Between Friends/OMDR Plus website? It looks like we can create at least some of what you're talking about there, maybe all. I'm just starting to learn about it. I'm a new officer and am not sure what you had last year. Has anyone used this system yet for announcements, etc.?
