We held Grandparent's Night before Christmas. This event gives the Grandparents a chance to spend some time with their grandchildren seeing their classrooms, doing crafts, taking a picture together and eating a snack. In February, we will sponsor Family Fun Night. We set up small carnival type games in most of the classrooms. To raise money for PTA, we solicit donations from both the families and businesses and put together basket raffles. Both events are very well received and give the kids something fun to do with their families.

We just had a BINGO for Books night at our school. It was a free event and we bought Scholastic books from the book club to give out as prizes. It was well attended and the kids seemed to have a great time and were excited for the oppportunity to try and win a book. I'm on our PTA and also work at the school and was able to set up our own Scholastic account so that any books we order will give our PTA the bonus points. Then we can order more books - hopefully for free!

We are also doing a coat drive, book drive and a free movie night where we are showing "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs".

We are having an International Night called "Journey Around the World" We have 18 countries represented that the students can visit and get their "passports "signed. The evening will begin with a parade of children to the stage with each countries' flag and then they will lead the Pledge. We will have a short PTA membership meeting and then the students will travel to all the booths and learn about all the cultures that we have represented in school. Students will promote the event during morning announcements each day of the week, by saying hello in their countries' language and taking about the event.

We are also planning a Science Fair in February that also involves local businesses and museums. The students put together an experiment to show others during the evening. We are giving out participation ribbons to all students.
