Kyle, just curious if you've had a low cost fundraiser in the past that's raised big bucks for ya?

Our kids' school is looking into very low cost fund-raisers this year, because apparently the higher end products they were hoping would be a success last year did very poorly. One idea, I heard that a few surrounding schools have had success with is selling wristbands with positive anti-bully messages - (I guess capitalizing off of the Silly band craze.) Has anyone here made big money off of these?

I've never heard of a penny social either. If you want a more traditional way to raise money take a look at www.easy-fundraising-ideas.com and what they have to offer.

There is about 100 or more gifts and there are cups in front of each item- you are given tickets (which used to only cost a penny) and can put as many tickets as you can for that item. Most of the time the items are inexpensive - maybe a christmas cookie jar. There are also "Card parties" which are on the higher end and no longer involve playing cards. That system works with more expensive items that are in a group- so instead of putting a ticket for the one item you want you are putting in the pot and you dont know which item in the group you may get. the card party is really for adults so that is why I was opting for the penny social which is for families. It is alot of work either way because it involves alot of bargain shopping and again soliciting the local businesses. The one that the private school in our area sponsors has prizes eg. coach items (they pick them up on sale with coupons from the outlets). I am networking with the various schools in our area to get specifics but I think that anything new is worth a try. I know I have Great childhood memories from the ones that my school sponsored :)

I was wondering if anyone has ever had a penny social at their school? Growing up I have great memories of attending them and I am really interested in trying it out at our school.

I am working with a PTA in Cave Creek Arizona. It's hot here (110). And, we really don't our children going door to door soliciting. We found an alternative program that might work. We are giving it a try this week. I will publish results next week. If it works out. Safety for our kids is our no.1 concern.

Great story on how Carmel School District raised $100,000 by providing volunteers for the US Open at Pebble Beach. Has anyone tried contacting large events and offering to provide volunteers for a donation?

Raffetto's Ravioli of NYC has just expanded its fresh ravioli, pasta and sauces to schools and organization for fundraising. Earn 25% and run it at least 4 times a year. Prices are great. They deliver to your school. contact me if you are interested. Our school and Jersey Lightning All Stars has run this successfully for years.
