PTA Great Idea Bank

A resource for PTA and parent involvement project ideas

I've done quite a bit of research to see what has worked for other PTA groups and I'm about to pitch the Direct Donation Campaign (DDC) idea to my board the day after tomorrow. If all goes well we will be switching from catalog fundraisers to DDC next year.

Anyone out there with any suggestions or selling points that I can present to my board?
Attached is a draft of a brochure for the campaign.

Thanks in advance!

Did the direct donation campaign work for your school? I am looking for ideas for next and really like the idea. Your brochure is great.
thanks,
Kirsten
Use www.mymissionconnection.com as your fundraising administration tool to make your direct donation campaign even more powerful then it already is....find out how at www.mymissionconnection.com.

We have a pride fund and are restructuring to include advertising in hopes to get more businesses to donate.

Wow, I think it is a great idea! I like your brochure and positive attitude. When presenting to the board, I would tell them doing something different keeps the spark alive! Tell them to give you the opportunity to try and at least see if it works. Then go get them! Could you leave the DDC open all year? and maybe every semester push again? I wish you great success. I will be presenting that for next year! (it's to late this year)

I have had several parents tell me they would be willing to make a donation if they don't have to deal with a catalog fundraiser.  I need to come up with something for the middle school for next year and have thought about doing this.   Did your direct donation campaign work?

Thanks.

This past school year, our school did a direct donation campaign in addition to our gift wrap fundraiser. After discussing the different options, we decided to run both programs at the same time in the fall.  We explained to people that if the direct donation went well, then we would not be have to perform other catalog fundraisers later in the year.  By keeping the gift wrap fundraiser, we gave people the option - if they could not afford to give money, perhaps they could sell gift wrap at the workplace and still feel as if they are helping the school.  We kept our word and did not have another catalog fundraiser this year.

We had quite a few families participate in gift wrap and direct donation - I was very surprised by that.  Also, our gift wrap sales were up about 20% this year.  For the direct donation, we had about 15% of our families participate.  For the gift wrap, about 25% of our families participated.

Hope this helps,

Kirsten
