A resource for PTA and parent involvement project ideas

PTA Websites - Work or Wonderful?

We have not had a PTA website in the past. I am hoping to get one up and running. For those that have them already, do you have any suggestions or tips for making the administration of it easier? Right now, I am looking for free calendar software that will allow for a dynamic calendar within our website, rather than either a flat (word or pdf file) calendar or a link to another site to get to the calendar.

We like the idea of OMDR+, but we also wanted something that we could customize and get email for our officers with the pta.org domain involved rather than having personal email addresses bogged down with PTA stuff.

Any help or company while commiserating would be appreciated!!!!

We have a page on the school's website. We send office personnel information and they cut and paste into the template. In the past, the information has not been updated so this year our goal is to update monthly and train our parents to go to the website.

Here is what we have - again not updated & nothing fancy but you have to start somewhere. Go to:http://calhoun.anderson5.net look to the left pane for PTSA and our information is there.

We use PTA Blocks. We use their free service. I think that if you pay for the upgrade, it may do what you need.

I think you are wise in implementing a website for your PTA. The Google Calendar product is very robust, though it isn't the easiest thing to incorporate into your website (it can be done, however; I could possibly assist). Of course, you can always just link to the calendar from your website. It doesn't necessarily have to reside within it.
