Gifted Education needs more support from the schools and the parents. Many times, as long as a child is doing pretty well, no one is overly concerned because we are often taught to focus on those students that appear to "need" our attention and resources more. Sometimes we don't realize the problems that develop when gifted students are not identified and are not challenged in learning. These are sometimes the students who underachieve, or cause distractions and possibly become bullies and sometimes even drop outs. Some of these students also have social emotional needs that are not attended to. When ALL CHILDREN receive the support their G/T program needs to help to keep them challenged, then we can truly say we support NCLB! What are your thoughts?
