Hello all-
Just wanted to share some of the ideas we are rolling out at Cleveland Elementary School this year. Our theme is GET CONNECTED, and we are finding every way possible to get the word out utilizing facebook, our website, emails, the marquis in front of the school, “PTA pinks”, and our new PTA NEWS bulletin board in the main foyer of the school.
First we have had great success with our Facebook fan page Cleveland Elementary Rocks. We are posting current events as well as creating a forum for parents, teachers, and students to question or comment. All of the downloads for every event or any media we send out are available on our website www.ClevelandPTA.org. This includes our publication the “Rockin Reporter” which is another way to keep parents informed. Luckily our Vice-President of Membership has mastered the electronic PTA database system and she also sends reminders or news via mass email.
Another new idea this year is “PTA Pinks.” We had already adopted a “half-sheet” policy in order to conserve and maintain our GREEN outlook. Any paper reminder issued by PTA is now on a bright pink paper called “PTA Pinks.” This helps streamline our marketing materials and allows us to remind parents to check their child’s backpack for “PTA pinks.” So far this idea has been working like a charm and the staff appreciates the clarity of knowing what is being sent home.
We also have many locations to post news on our school campus: the marquis in front of our school, a bulletin board in the main foyer called PTA NEWS where we post all of the flyers for the month, and our wonderful Corresponding Secretary creates the cutest banners for events like our Ice Cream Social that she hangs on the fence the week of any of our events. Pictures of everything also get posted on our FB page.
I am so excited to be the PTA president this year because of the unique dynamic between the staff and the parents at our school. We are truly a family at Cleveland, and this has everything to do with our fearless leader Mrs. Drysdale. Her commitment and dedication to our children inspires me to volunteer and help make Cleveland the best we can be.
CLEVELAND ROCKS!!!
Thanks for letting me share,
Cleveland Elementary PTA president, 2010-11
